We have all had a well deserved break over the Bank Holiday weekend. Now we are back to normal and raring to go.
This week we are finishing off some small jobs. We have built a garden wall at Whitehaven, we are laying a small patio at Maryport, laying some turf at Maryport. We will also be putting the finishing touches to an ongoing project at Papcastle.
Next week we are off to The Highlands at Whitehaven. This project involves a lot of walling, 155m2 of paving using Tobermore Tegula on the driveway, paths and patios.
In the next few weeks we will be installing driveways, patios, walling, landscaping and fencing at locations all over West Cumbria
The designing and organising of our show garden for this years Holker Grden Festival is under full swing. We have secured the services, help and valued assistance of Tom and Abi's Garden Plants from Halecat Nurseries at Witherslack, near Grange-over-Sands. Tom and Abi will be supplying and planting all the flowers, plants and trees for our show garden. Having met Tom and Abi, I am really excited about working with them on our garden, and hopefully this will lead to future working relationships. A few weeks ago I mentioned a project we were doing at Burlington Slate. We installed some test trial panels using their new Slate Sett Paving range. We spent 3 days at the quarry at Kirkby in Furness, where we laid the new paving on a range of different bedding materials and different patterns.
I returned to see the test panels last week. I had a meeting with the bosses of Burlington and my good friend Tony McCormack from the pavingexpert.com website. Tony is an advisor for Burlington on the designing and manufacturing of this new product.
Having had 5 weeks of vehicular traffic, the test panels produced some interesting results.
I will be submitting a more detailed report on this project soon. But just to say that everyone was really happy with the results of the test panels. We have come up with some specifications and ideas and I am glad to announce that Burlington will be soon producing this fantastic product.
